Community Outreach Partners

African Communities

Beatrice Sesay from the African Commnities Council Inc. works from May Murray Neighbourhood Centre on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Beatrice provides settlement services to newly arrived African refugees, humanitarian entrants and migrants who face settlement problems because of a lack of English, skills, family or social support. Beatrice also works on Tuesdays at the AMES NSW building in Bankstown, and Fridays at the St George MRC. The African Communities Council Inc is an umbrella organisation which represents all African people living in Australia.

Egyptian

The Australian Egyptian Council Forum Inc. Association is represented at  May Murray Neighbourhood Centre by SGP coordinator Ibrahim Rezkella. Ibrahim is a Justice of the Peace (JP) and provides information, referral services, casework, community capacity building, service planning and development services to Arabic-speaking Coptic, Egyptian, and Sudanese arrivals. Ibrahim works at The May Murray Neighbourhood Centre’s head office on Mondays, at the MRC in Parramatta on Wednesdays and at St George MRC on Thursdays.

Indonesian

Dewi Putru from the Indonesian Welfare Association Inc (IWA) works with Indonesian migrants at May Murray Neighbourhood Centre’s head office on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Dewi provides community development, group work, casework, community education. and referral services. Dewi also delivers settlement services at Burwood Community Welfare Services on Mondays and Tuesdays. Currently the IWA has two Indonesian women support groups. One is based at Marrickville West Public School and is a partnership between IWA, May Murray Neighbourhood Centre and Connect Marrickville. The other group operates from Punchbowl Public School and is a partnership between IWA and School As Community Centre (SACC).The Indonesian Welfare Association Inc is funded by DIMA under the SGP.
